Fishing For Trout. Looking For Some Helpful Tips, Thanks.
Hi all! Well, my friend and I are headed up north to go camping and fish for the next couple of days. We live in Phoenix, Arizona and about 2 hours north, there is a lake called Woods Canyon Lake. We checked and we were informed that they stack the lake with trout every week and it is full. We were just wondering if there is any tips you can provide and what time should we begin? I know it is good going early in the morning and late at night. But as you can tell, I am a city boy for sure. I mean, I love camping but for this trip, I was looking to see if there are any good tips you can provide. Thanks
If their stocked/planted Trout like ya' say then a simple riggin' of split shot (re-useable type), bout' 18-20 inches above a size 8-10 hook, followed up with some Berkley's Power Bait will do ya' just right. If ya' go with PB, take a small portion out of jar, put it in the palm of your hands and applyin' pressure move hands in a circular motion to from a ball then push hook inta' it (will stay on better durin' cast) Also jarred salmon eggs, Inline spinners, say Panther Martins. Might add that Kastmaster spoons will get their attention also. Good luck and "Fish On"

Note: Planted trout (mostly rainbow species) are pretty docile meanin' their a bit easier ta' catch then your native (been in wild waters fore sometime) ones...
Added: Was somewhat skeptical bout' the lake bein' planted/stocked with Trout EVERY week so did some investigatin' and ya' be right. Link will confirm it ~ scroll down to MOGOLLON RIM (13 lines under it) and viola'. Good luck and hope ya' teach some locals the expertise on catchin' trout ...
