There is no worse feeling than having a big fish hooked, enjoy the fight of reeling in it, then having your team fails and the fish escape.
Sometimes equipment failure can not be avoided, but with good maintenance you be sure that any failures that may have been unable avoided.
Keeping your fishing reel clean, fewer problems and last longer. It is a basis of how the cleaning and maintenance of fishing reels.
Find a clean, flat and hard as a bench to clean the spool. The establishment of a clean white sheet on the bench can make it easier to find small parts.
Start by cleaning the exterior of the coil over with a damp cloth with soap will remove any contaminants such as oils and salts (especially if used in salt water). Remove the reel and wash and below with mild soap and water.
Carefully remove the handle, which is usually done unscrewing the nut on the opposite side of the coil. Take the handle out and carefully remove the side plate with a small screwdriver. You will be able to inspect all fishing gear in and add special reel grease the gears. Each year you should clean the old grease and lubricate the internal parts with fresh grease.
Use of fishing reel oil, grease no external moving parts, such as bail and anti reverse lever.
Remember that saltwater fishing needs more maintenance than freshwater fishing. Be sure to clean your computer after each trip to keep it in perfect working order and extend the life of many trips better fishing.
