Sportfishing Baja California Sur Conditions
Mexico sportfishing has always been his best in the East Cape. Here are the latest conditions for the famous Sea of Cortez. This area is known worldwide as one of the premier holiday sites and big game fishing in the world. It consistently produces large numbers of blue marlin, black and striped marlin, dorado, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, rooster fish and more.
- Cabo San Lucas Sportfishing: Maybe La Niña is to blame, but conditions are unstable for this time of year, with strong winds raging at times on the Pacific side of the peninsula of Baja California. Marlin are the main objectives and the action is fair to good. Lots of nice. Some gold.
- San Jose del Cabo: El Gordo Banks Pangas fleet is well positioned for the needle, but is having trouble getting the right kind of bait and have stabilized on the flat, the needle can take or leave. Some gold. Many small and gallo scattered snapper only along the coast. Native fisherman Chame Pino's won the tournament with a bull Dorado Playita 45.5 pounds, caught in San Luis Bank.
- East Cape fishing: Much more stable. Lots of big dorado. Timothy Boyle, of Tustin got a 48 pounds while fishing at the Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort. Rancho reports Leonero ships are averaging more than one weevil per day. Chris Nelson and Ron Johnson of Carlsbad, in two days on a cruise, caught two striped marlin, six dorado, 10 bonito white!
- La Paz: Intermittent high winds made for a hit-or-miss a week, but the dorado and rooster fish caught were large very large, and the needle around and bait sailfish. Andy Ewing Seattle, where fishing trip for the first time, caught and released an estimated 50-pound rooster aboard a Tailhunter International.
