which penn reel is better overall a jigmaster 500L or a 320gt2?
The Jigmaster hasn’t really changed in 40 years or more. They’re basically indestructible. I have two dating from 1971 or 1972, both work fine. But on the other hand, technology has advanced considerably in 40 years, and I much prefer my newer reels. (not Penns — I like Daiwas and Shimanos.) The GT series are a much newer design, plus they’re a bit more expensive, which usually indicates higher quality. But I haven’t used them, so I can’t say for sure.
But looking at the specs, the 320GT2 is made for 20 pound line, while the 500 is made for 30 — that is, the Jigmaster is a larger reel. If you need the bigger reel, go a step up to the 330.
