Whale Shark Diving - Guinjata Bay - Mozambique
GUINJATA Bay is located south of Inhambane, Jangamo Bay Area. It is located some kilometers 53rd north of Maputo. The road from Maputo to Inhambane is tarred. The last 25 miles to the station is a dirt road and only accessible with a vehicle 4 x 4 or 2 x 4 a difflock.
Guinjata Bay Resort offers 2 rubberducks (Zodiac) for letters of diving. There are also 3 Bauer compressors to fill cylinders. Guinjata Bay also offer full-time instructor, Dive Masters and courses. All dive gear is available for rent - especially for those flying in.
Offers including meals, accommodation and dives are offered. Smaller groups or individuals are being treated and night dives are available on request.
The area offers a number of dive sites including the following:
This reef is about 1.5 km away from launch and offers a variety of dive sites. The outer edge of the reef drops to 21 meters, while other areas of the reef reached 9m. There are a number of sites diving on the reef that have not been named at this time. A particular area is wall to wall with sea anemones, other areas are full of brightly colored nudibranchs and sea cucumbers. Although this reef is relatively close, we have often seen the Manta Rays and the Devil. The outer edge regularly produces sightings of larger fish and lightning off in the sand.
Explore the warm tropical waters of Mozambique and swim with the gentle whale sharks and manta rays. Shark Alley Dive and the Travel Centre specializes in dive travel packages to many dive sites around above Mozambique.
This reef is about 12 km north the launch site and therefore can only be reached when the sea is relatively calm. This reef is large and offers a variety of dives ranging from 18m to 35m on the edge abroad. Since it is located in the main stream of comments, Manta rays and the Devil are more common. Three cleaning stations have been identified and Manta Manta are seen on a regular basis. Whale sharks, sharks and pelagic fish are often different. One of the best places, called "Manta" offers incredible diving Most banks with reef fish and fishing to be seen. Spanish dancers have been swimming in broad daylight. This reef regularly produces world class diving!
This reef starts close to the shore and extends up to 35m very quickly offering excellent sightings of fish reef on one side to sport fishing lurking in the other. Many lionfish can be seen in one place. The shallow protected area has brilliant corals. Again This reef has many points that have not yet been named. The inside of the reef is well protected and provides almost pool like conditions for student training and snorkeling.
This reef is approximately 6 km south of Paindane. Several whale sharks are seen here on a regular basis. This site is rarely dived and therefore unexplored. Many of the reefs are still undiscovered.
