Offshore fishing on eastern coast of Florida, what do i need?
I will be taking a few fishing trips off the eastern coast of Florida, near Vero Beach and Fort Pierce. I haven't fished in quite a while, and I am curious; what kind of rod and reel will I need? What bait or lures should I be using? and what can I expect to catch out there. I would prefer to purchase a rod and reel that I can also use to fish in the river around here too, is that possible? or are most rods and reels meant for either offshore or river, not both. Thanks in advance.
Are you going on a Party Boat or Charter?
If so, they will have Rods & Reels designated for what you will be catching. Your "best bet" is to rent them. Call the Party Boat and find out if they have rentals available. If it's a Charter, they will usually have everything set-up to go. Call and ask!
If not-
Inshore Saltwater rods and Offshore rods are totally different in "actions". Most Inshore Rods would be too light for Offshore fishing and most Offshore Rods would be too heavy for inshore fishing.

4. Line?- Power Pro 12/50 Braided line- Braided lines are excellent for bottom fishing- just make sure to use a Flurocarbon leader.
