louisiana inshore fishing
what is the best size and Hull type for fishing inshore in louisiana?

i'm looking to buy a boat but am not sure what to get. it needs to be able to handle red fish in shallow marsh to trout in a little bit choppier water

If money is a concern, and it usually is to any of us on this forum, I would do as Fisher suggested. Buy second hand and I would buy aluminum. There's not much that can be wrong on an aluminum boat, even a used one. I would also get one 17 foot long with a minimum 52 inch bottom. This would float in 8 inches of water, and the gunnel's on a boat of this size will keep you dry in choppy water if the waves are not too high. I personally like the flat bottoms best, but you may want a semi-vee if the areas you fish are usually windy and choppy. The inshore flats and marshes offer some of the best fishing in the nation. Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun. Good luck!
