Where should I stop on my Canada fishing road trip?

I live in Minnesota, and have never been to Canada. But I hear the pike fishing up there is unreal in the spring. Some of my college friends and I want to take a road trip up there and see what it's all about. We are also chasing walleye and muskie, but our primary concern is pike. We want to hit multiple lakes and see the country as well. We are going to catch and release everything. What are some key locations? Any Canadians that are willing to share some secrets? I appreciate any help I you can give.

Northern Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan are supposed to have some excellent walleye and pike fishing spots. I could not tell you any specifics from experience as I have never really fished for pike myself. My experience is more in the perch, smallmouth bass, and a fish they call the crapet-soleil here in Quebec (see crappie or sunfish).

Although I do remember my grandfather came home from a fishing trip with a huge pike that he decided to keep in the bathtub for a few hours, and it actually bit him when he reached in to grab it and pull it out. I was pretty young but remember lots of blood and that they thought he might have to go get stitches. So watch those hands, guys!

Seeing that you come from Minnesota, and you probably want to just drive up here rather than trying to get flights, your best bet would be to head up to someplace like Thunder Bay or Dryden in Ontario, or try some places a few hours north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. There are so many lakes of different sizes there, along with rivers to try, that you should be able to find something that you will enjoy.

Just look on-line for "northern pike fishing Canada" and you will find various lodges and fishing excursions.
