Biggest heel turn in movie history?
Just got done watching Dark Knight. Harvey descent into madness becoming two face was cool. But in my mind, nothing has Anakin beat in Revenge of the Sith. Are there any others examples you could think of where teh good guy becomes bad. Whats your choice for biggest heel turn in movie history??
Back in 1960, we were shocked when Anthony Perkins turned out to be the murderer, especially dressing in his mother's clothing to do so. I don't believe we used the term serial killer back then, but it's made clear that Marion and Arbogast aren't his only victims. Tony Perkins generally had played a nice boy or a kind, gentle young man. We were NOT prepared for the person Norman Bates turned out to be, which is very likely the reason that film is so engrained in us.
I'll have to think about other major ones. I know that, in "Bunny Lake Is Missing", no one suspected handsome, personable, helpful Keir Dullea to be the kidnapper who ultimately plans to kill his niece for coming between him and sister Carol Lynley. The moment when we realized he was insane was *GASP*!
