Fishing tournament questions?

Does anyone know of any upcoming fishing tournaments in Illinois preferably the St. Louis area? I want to start fishing in tournaments I've been fishing 14 years and I live on a lake and have a vacation house on a larger lake so I have plenty experience and a boat.Also,are there any age limits I'm only 17.

Fishing tournaments are as easy as you want to make them. You either know what to do, when and where or you guess at it. Professional athletes dedicate their life to their sport. They guess about nothing. You have got to know and understand the sacred competitive words, like: sacrifice, determination, desire and dedication by preparing yourself mentally, physically and educationally. If you haven't read any books about fishing for bass or walleye then just stay being a recreational angler. Lot's of dreamers want it all without paying their dues, for God's sake these pages are filled here on answers with rhetoric and verbal diarrhea from lazy young adults lacking the work ethic to be anything less than a cell mate to Manson. I am not saying this toward you or anyone in particular but look at how many whining I want it now and I want it fast and without waiting and I want it free and where they can sit at their computer in their pajama's and make money......... Come back here in two years and tell me how many books you've read by tournament winning anglers and how many baits, tackle bags, rods and reels you have perfected using. Tell me how tuned in and focused you are about preparing for the rest of your life. Tell me when the water is murkey and the barometric pressure is dropping the water is 67 degrees and water is rising with the sun out, tell me where you would look for fish first, second and third? Not that you have fished fourteen of your 17 years or you live on a lake or have a vactaion house next to water. I, nor does the tournament trail care about anything except, how many times you went out in a rain storm, with winds over forty miles an hour and caught more than 20 fish? how many times have you caught ten fish all over seven pounds in three different places on one lake? if you don't fish a minimum ( I know I said minimum better would be 165+ ) of 110 days a year and are 100% focused each and every hour on that water to one result, being the best angler you can be. Do you understand or even know, that nothing is free. The bigger the reward the higher the price, you have to practice all the tactics and patterns to perfect your presentations and hooksets you have to know every possible combination of conditions everything that works and where when nothing works. Preparing now when you have no family or self limiting responsibilities holding you back will give you confidence of learning the baby steps to success and in so doing you will be making it so easy that no one can compete against you. while all the unprepared "bait and wait" fishermen fall by the wayside. You can make fishing tourneys as easy as just simply putting fish in the live well. Make it that easy, be a pro angler, do it.
