Enjoying Deep Sea Ocean Fishing

Deep sea fishing is not your regular camp-on-the-boat-for-five-hours type of fishing. Deep sea fishing requires handling a special fishing boat and lots of equipment, and is much more engaging.
While you pilot your fishing boat at around six knots, you bait your game with a lure floating right beneath the surface of the water. Alternatively, you could use gillnets, purse seines, harpooning hooks, or poling. Any technique is fair in deep sea fishing. After all, you're out to catch the big fish.
Deep Sea Fishing Locations
Where should I go to deep sea fish? The coastlines of Cancun, Cozumel, Mississipi, San Diego and Miami are popular destinations for deep sea fishers. Bodega Bay, Cape Cod, Key West, and Point Pleasant are also good areas to try.
What equipment do I need? Firstly, you need a specialized fishing boat. Unless you are already experienced with deep sea fishing, you should not purchase your own boat. Instead, rent a boat from the marina. If this is your first time deep sea fishing, go with a party boat.
Why should novices go with a party boat? Seasoned fishers and captains are around to help you. Being inexperienced, you may be unable to control a boat and fish at the same time. You may also have difficulty reeling in your catch, untangling your line, etc.
Deep Sea Fishing Preparation
In addition to a boat, you need a fishing road, lures, and tackle. To keep the fish that you catch fresh, bring a cooler and ice. Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are recommended for summer time deep sea fishing. Ponchos and rain jackets should be packed as well, as the ocean water likes to splash onto the boat and its occupants.
Because you will be dealing with fish, you probably should not wear the new pair of Nikes you just bought, or your favorite cocktail dress. Wear clothes that you will not mourn over if they are dirtied or ripped. And if you are sea sick, be sure to take anti-nausea remedies with you.
A deep sea fishing expedition requires at least four hours, and go on for as long as eight or ten hours. You will need at least a snack, preferably a snack and a meal. Bring bottles of water as well. Hand sanitizer is a good idea as well, as most fishing boat restrooms lack soap and water.
Enjoying Your Deep Sea Fishing Adventure
There is no appropriate time of the day for deep sea fishing. You can go any time that you like. However, for beginners, learning will be easier during the daytime. If you wish to participate in a late night deep sea fishing expedition, pack flashlights and some hot chocolate.
For a most enjoyable experience, do not focus on trying to catch the biggest fish. If you are a beginner, give yourself a pat on the back even if you caught something very small. The key is to enjoy the feel, smell and sight of the ocean. In fact, you might even see a few dolphins! Deep sea fishing is about taking your boat out to sea, and trying to catch some fish. It's exciting, yet at the same time relaxing.
