Baitcast hard to reel?
Hey guys, I have a baitcasting reel that I have one loss. Abu Garcia Ambassadeur is a 5500 that I have not used for a time. I have out today and realized it was harder to spin the reel than it should be. I imagined myself sitting with her as long as it made without being used, probably only needed a simple oiling. I oiled all the arts and what not down but does not help at all. I'm thinking the problem has something to do with the braking system of the coil. Any ideas on what might be causing this and how to go about fixing it? Dum-dum Yeah that was the first thing I tried. I took as loose as it would, but to no avail. I'm thinking the brake is just stuck in a certain position. I have no idea why or how do happen, but had only made sense to me. Firefighter Nice tips, but unfortunately, this is not the problem. Clean everything thoroughly before adding new oil on the spool.
Do not push the coils in water. It just makes the problem worse over time. Water is not a lubricant and, finally, will want to get wet your reel more and more to get to "work" again. Geez people, where in the hell you get the idea that it is a smart thing to do?!?! Of Anyway ..... Do you clean the bearings? (I mean, do you really cleans bearings: you have to use something like acetone or naphtha to really get out all things.) Look, there are many reasons for this sort of thing happens. If you used the salt medium, it is possible that the gears, bearings, etc. have been damaged by corrosion and you have to replace. No amount of cleaning will help if that is the problem. Corrosion main gear, pinion corroded. corrosion spool bearings, gunked, grabbed, etc. If you back off the street, and still is hard to reel drag could also be the battery is stuck. If that is the case, you can clean the washer and reinstall it, but I would not recommend trying to "wash" off or delete it. It would have to be cleaned properly, in a white gas and acetone /. It is a reel is easy to fix and solve problems, as there are parties involved, and the mechanics are very simple on the reels.
